First Halloween!!

We had a fun first Halloween.  Alex was dressed as a tiger and Ben was a lion.  They were very adorable when they weren't fussing about something.  They decided to skip their pre-trick or treat nap, so occasionally things got a little grumpy.

I tried to get a picture of them before we left.  They would not cooperate, so I had to bribe them with graham crackers.  That would not be the last bribe of the night.

They did tug on each other's costume a bit.

Babies are like a group of cats chasing a laser pointer.  They move their heads together to look at a noise or movement.

Ben flew through his cracker.  Now he wants Alex's.

Alex is no sucker.  (Love the face he is making)

Yes, we are those people.  The ones you see trick or treating with infants in a giant stroller.  Babies way too young for candy.  We only went to 3 houses though.  We only stopped at houses of people we thought might like to see the babies.  One set of neighbors got them each a sippy cup and a box of snacks to share.  Needless to say, we had to break into the snacks before we left their house.

Cody holding Alex at neighbor's house.  Alex was not very interested in being passed around or sitting on the floor.

The boys and I stopped at the house across the street to see our friends while Cody got in to costume.  When he rang their doorbell, our friends were greeted with quite the costume.  Cody went as Walter White from Breaking Bad.  He wore the dress shirt in the picture and a pair of whitey tightie undies with some crushed blue jolly rancher meth and safety goggles.  They thought it was HILARIOUS.  We were discussing how it may not be a great idea for a grown man to run around outside in the dark in his underwear when there were a bunch of kids running around.  He made it without getting spotted, and we all had a good laugh.

My parents wanted to take the babies to a pumpkin patch for their first Halloween.  It didn't really work out for them to visit until after the holiday.  Luckily there was still a place open the weekend after Halloween.  We ended up making it up there about an hour before dark on the last day they were open.

Our timing was actually really great.  There was almost nobody else there.  We got to look at things and play with things without worrying about the babies being a pain or other kids driving us crazy.  We had a lot of fun.

Cody holding Alex looking at chickens and roosters.  There was also a pig that did not feel like coming out to greet us.  Cody was dangling Alex over the enclosure fence like Michael Jackson showing off his new baby.

Here is Dad playing with Ben on a tire swing saddle.  It was on a long tension wire so Dad walked him back and forth.  Ben seemed to enjoy it.

Dad and Ben in jail.  They were distracted by a pair of young kids playing on the tire swing saddle yelling about how much it hurt their crotch.  See why it was nice to have minimal other people around?  Only one set of kids yelling about their crotches.

When we walked in, the guy told us we could play in the bouncy castles.  I told him my kids were a little too young.  He said we're not too young.  I didn't think much of it, but when we got there I couldn't resist.  It was dirty and it was pretty hard to climb up there, but it was fun.  There was a climbing wall thing with nubs that went up a wall to climb.  A lot of them were torn off.  I'm assuming its from adults using it or chubby children.  Either way, it was a bit more difficult than it needed to be to get up there.

Me getting ready to go down the slide.  It was much steeper than I expected.  I made Cody stand at the end to break my fall in case I rocketed off the end.   Lucky for him, I was able to stop on my own.

Since there were no other kids around, we let the babies play on the bouncy slide for quite a while after I went down.  Cody and Dad even got on the bouncy thing and held the babies partially up the slide so they could slide a bit.  They just laughed... and sometimes cried.  Eh.  They had fun.

Alex was really interested in that leaf.

We had a pretty good Halloween.

The boys are ALMOST walking.  Alex is up to 7 steps in a row.  Ben is up to 6 steps in a row.  They casually walk between pieces of furniture when it is only 3 or so steps away.  My little monsters are getting big.
