Updates

It has come to my attention that my mom thinks I'm mad at her so I'm not updating.  As funny as I think that is, I have 2 sick babies so I have no time to update.  Here are some new pictures

Ben Blue.  Alex red.  Baby kisses

Alex angry at space heater

Laundry room.  Baby tv.  They like to sit in there and watch the washer and dryer run.  I try to keep them out, but they make it back in.  Ben next to toilet paper on left.  Alex on right.

While we were working on the floor, we could not get the babies to stay out of harm's way.  There was no way to corral them safely.  Their cribs were in the living room, so we just put them in a crib.  It worked for a lot longer than I expected.  We got maybe 20 minutes out of sticking them in there.

As they got tired of staying in the crib, I bribed them with Apple Jacks

It helped

Baby wrestling.  Alex on top.  Ben on floor.

This is how I found the babies.  Alex really is a climber.  Alex in shower.  Ben outside.

Alex vacuuming for me.

Cody was taking a shower one day when he got an unexpected visitor.  I think it is Alex.  He just opened the door and crawled in.  I have it on video, but it is definitely not blog safe.

Will try to update more later.

See,  Not angry!  :)

Happy Birthday Little Monkeys!!!!

I really can't put in to words how happy I am that my babies (and Cody and I) made it through the first year.  They are one.  Goodbye babies... hello toddlers!

We have 2 toddlers.

Dear Alex and Ben,

You make having twins so (relatively) easy.  You are the best babies I could have ever asked for.  Even when you give me 3 of the most horrible poop stories ever in the same week, I am so happy to have you around.

Love,

Your mom (A mom that is still disgusted by the 3 horrible poop stories in one week)

The boys had a nice birthday.

They spent the day tearing up as much as they could find.  They have started going around unplugging everything.  Things they enjoy unplugging the most: the laptop, the tv, the electric throw blanket, the vacuum, and the battery charger.  I've done everything I can think of to stop them, but I can't unplug everything in the house!  Little monsters.

There are 3 houses on our street.  Our lovely neighbors from both of the other houses went out to dinner with us.  We had a good time!  Going out to restaurants is always so stressful for me, so it was kind of a blur.  I know the babies ate a lot of Apple Jacks, ate a lot of rice and beans, and took different approaches to eating their birthday cake.  Alex kind of picked at it and only ate big pieces if Cody gave it to him.  Ben just demolished his cake.  He ripped it apart with his hands, ate big hunks straight off the table, and smeared it on as much of his face as he could.  It was messy, but it was great.  Our neighbors got them some great gifts and we ate some pretty good Mexican food.

We'll have to plan a more official party with family later.  We were going to do one last weekend, but Cody ended up going out of town on business the week before.  We had some stuff around the house to take care of.  Instead of taking care of stuff, our furnace went on the fritz and we had to deal with that.  I'm glad we didn't have the party going on during that mess.

I'll add some more pictures and video when I get them loaded.

Fun with farm equipment.  One ran over the other.  The one on the bottom kept the tractor so he could chew on it. (Alex blue Ben grey)

I left the room and came back to my boys sitting like this. Alex left, sitting.  Ben right.

Shep is starting to tolerate the babies.  I do stress tolerate.  Ben petting Shep.

People have started asking for Christmas and Birthday gift ideas for the babies.  I thought this might be a good place to make a list since most of our loved ones keep up on the blog.

The New Car Seat

The babies have finally grown out of their infant car seats.  They probably have not outgrown the specifications, but it is time they move to big boy seats.  We received the first one today.  The babies LOVE climbing on to things and sitting in things.  It didn't take long before one crawled up and then the other tried to join.  These are in no particular order.

Ben pushed Alex off and then started talking to Alex on the floor.  They would chatter and Ben would giggle and jump up a little on to the back of the seat.

Ben chatting with Alex on floor

Alex was upset that he fell off the chair.  Ben tried to make him feel better by grabbing his face.

Sitting in the chair together.  Ben left Alex right.  They are looking up at Cody.  He might have a better shot where they are looking at the camera, but he is currently asleep so this is what you get.

One of my favorite pictures ever.  Chatting.

TOMORROW MY BABIES ARE ONE!!!!

Added 12/10/13:

I would really like to save these poop stories for all of time.  I'm already forgetting details, so I needed to rely on text messages to my lovely sister for a reminder.  I don't want to take away from their birthday post, so here we are.

Our new installment in the Poo Chronicles.  The 3 worst poo stories ever in the same week.

Poo Chronicle #3  (the 3rd most disgusting poo story of the week)

I had slaved away over a hot stove for many 10s of minutes making the most glorious burrito ever created.  I put everything on it that Cody would never stand for.  It had cooked onions, black beans, chunky salsa, rotel and WHITE velveeta (the fancy kind), etc.  This was the burrito I dream of eating while I eat stupid beef, cheese, tortilla burittos when Cody is here to hold me back with his pickiness.

I was settling in with my glorious creation when Alex came walking up to me.  They love coming up to eat off my plate, so I was already a little disappointed that he caught me and I was going to have to try to share by finding the least spicy things on it for him to eat.  I gave him a bite and he sat down fussing a little.  (I still hadn't had a bite yet.)  When he stands up, I can smell that he pooped.  I wasn't too worried because we NEVER have blowouts in cloth diapers.  I was confident it was all in the diaper and I could change him after lunch.  Seeing my defenses were down, he reached out to grab my food, and rubbed poop all over my burrito!!

He didn't have a blowout, but when he sat down his leg hole gapped enough that he could scratch the poo and later deposit it on my burrito.  The horrors!  Cody helpfully told me to just empty the contents of the burrito in a new tortilla and I was good to go.  I was NOT good to go.  Who knows what he managed to touch with his poo fingers.

RIP best Poo-rito ever

Poo Chronicle #4 (2nd most disgusting poo story of the week)

(if you catch this tonight, thanks for reading my blog so thoroughly.  I will finish this updated post tomorrow)

Flooring Project: The babies are so helpful

Ben playing with our baby barrier

Their new favorite place to hang out was inside the built in shelf. Later, I found out they were pulling out the metal shelf holders and sucking on them. One would sit in the unit and tell stories to the other sitting on the floor. It was like baby theater.

Then they found the extension cords. They LOVED the extension cords. They would each hold a section and just walk back and forth across the floor. Eventually, Alex started doing circles around Ben, literally, and wrapped him up like in a cartoon. Then he pulled really hard and Ben fell down. He was not happy. Alex was not happy that he had no more slack in his line. 2 crying babies.

Duct tape. Lots of fun. Hard to find after they have rolled it around the floor and chewed on it.

Alex

I left them alone in the room for a while. They both crawled onto the futon. When I came back in this is what I found. Ben leaning on the bear and Alex under the curtain.

Alex crawling behind the couch. They really enjoy crawling through tight spaces. This was the first thing they did after we got the couch back in the living room.

They were getting pretty good at breaching the baby barrier.  It was originally the toy box and the kitchen chair.  One managed to crawl under the chair and show up in the work area.  To try to stop that, I added a hamper full of clean, unfolded clothes.  They thought that was a great thing to crawl in to.  Needless to say, all of that had to be rewashed.

This was baby barrier pre-hamper.  Notice all the toys piled up behind them?  The toys were not keeping them busy.  I tried distracting them with graham crackers.  That didn't work very well.  They were still upset, but they were also smearing graham cracker goo everywhere.  Alex left Ben right

This was after we emptied out the hall closet to put flooring in.  The skillet was hiding at the bottom.  Alex made a grand attempt to squeeze past the barrier.  He was not happy when he couldn't make it.

I like this one because they are both crouching down the same way.  Ben yellow Alex brown.

The babies walking around on the new floor.  They just paced back and forth for like 15 minutes.

No babies were harmed in the making of this video.  They regularly roll off the futon to get down.  Ben yellow Alex brown.  The perfect video.  You get to see: babies laughing together, Ben falling off the futon, Alex crawl on to the futon.
