Almost walking, more teeth, Dressing up

I took this when they first started exploring the bathroom.  Now they are in there a lot.

This is why Alex is my chubby monkey.  After I fed them, he crawled under the chairs to eat the stray floor cheerios.

Causing mischief.  Alex white Ben blue.  They got the closet door open, pulled out the box I keep diapers in, and started playing with them.  They pulled other stuff out of the closet also.

Alex blue Ben greenish.  I took them out front to watch daddy work.  They played on a sleeping bag.  The slippery surface was a big hit.  They crawled around the perimeter together giggling.

Checking out the grass

Not a fan of the grass

Off the sleeping bag

They like to sit back to back.

Ben left Alex right (I think)

Ben.  Sleeping baby wearing a "Play all day" sweatshirt.

I got these little suits to get pictures taken in.  I managed to get Ben in one.  Alex ran off, naked.  Ben took the time for a mini photo shoot.

Then naked baby attacked.  They rolled around the floor laughing for a while.

Maybe Ben.  We spent a small fortune getting them some winter clothes.  We had to take them shopping on a cold day wearing shorts and a t-shirt with socks that are way too small.  In the rain.  I felt like super mom that day.  We put warm stuff on them in the store.

January 12 vs  October 12.  My babies are getting big!

Getting big enough for the double carts.  That makes it SO much easier than taking strollers and baby carriers in.

Alex left Ben right

Cody kept talking to them like they were driving.  And making car noises.  When nosy people tried to talk to us about every set of twins/triplets/quads they've ever met or heard about, Cody would reply with something about the babies driving a race car.  Awesome.

Note to people that see a family with multiples: don't stop parents of multiples to tell them about every set of multiples you've ever heard about.  If our babies aren't currently screaming, they will when we stop to talk about your grandma's sister's nephew's cousin in law's triplets. (Yes, this happened)  Maybe you won't take that long, but the 15 other people that stop us really add up to a real time killer.

Ben

The boys are each taking 1-2 steps alone.  It is usually taking a couple of steps between pieces of furniture.  They are really rocking the walkers.  Here is Alex going down the hallway with a walker.

They are both getting 2 more teeth on the top.  They are ALMOST in.  Alex got his 5th tooth yesterday.  It is the one on the bottom next to the 2 that are in already on his right.  Exciting.  Maybe they will stop being such drool monsters for a while once they come in.

Comforting each other, Play time, and Poo Chronicles pt 2

Alex was upset.  Ben comforted him.  It didn't help.  (Ben did this 4 or 5 times in a row.  Enough that I was able to grab a camera at least.  I'm pretty sure at this point Alex is crying because of Ben's comfort, not what he was originally upset about.)

Playing on the couch.  Ben closer to camera.

Ben closer to the camera.  Alex near the back of the couch.

Alex standing.  Ben sitting.  They had a lot of fun with Grandma's mirror!  They left hand and tongue prints on every reflective surface they could find.  Luckily, their grandma is charmed by tiny hand prints.

Alex

Baby feet!

Ben blue, Alex purple.  I grabbed the camera originally because Ben crawled into the car seat and curled up for a little power nap.  Unfortunately, he moved before I could capture the moment.  Alex was intrigued by the new play area though.  He crawled up and started playing.

He learned that he could make the seat rock back

Looks like Ben slipped off the back end.  Alex seems to be standing now.

Rocking the other direction

Too far!

Warning:  Poo story coming up.  If you do not like stories about baby poop, please stop reading here.

Here is the 2nd installment of the Poo Chronicles:

I like to give the boys a few minutes of diaper free time in the morning.  They only poop once every day or less, so it isn't much of a risk if they have already pooped recently.  Well on this fine day, they both had gone in the morning.  After I took off their overnight diaper, they crawled in to the bathroom to play.  I wasn't worried about poo and pee is easily cleaned off of that surface, so I let them play in there for a while unattended.  (It is really our most fully baby proofed room)

10 minutes or so later, Ben comes crawling in to the living room.  I talk to him a bit and notice something on his leg.  Alex crawls up and I notice something on his arm.  Wondering what they got in to, I went to check on the bathroom.

What I found was horrible.  HORRIBLE.

I have once again used stars to censor the true horrors.  I don't like being that mom that blogs about baby poop.  But here I am.

Someone had pooped on the rug. Then, it appears, they both decided to start playing in it.  They got poop hand prints all over the floor, tub, and toilet... and  EACH OTHER.  Oh. My. God.  Horrible.

After I took an appropriate amount of time to laugh.. and cry.. I started the clean up process.  I moved the rugs and started using the detachable shower head to spray the outside of the tub.  The work area was getting pretty wet.

(Important Background that I may not have blogged about yet, but is vital to the story.  The boys LOVE bath time.  When they hear the tub water running, they drop whatever they are doing and crawl at light speed down the hall to the bathroom.)

So, the floor is getting pretty wet and I'm not really paying attention.  I'm still laughing/crying to myself.  Well here comes Ben, overjoyed at the sound of water running.  He made it to the epicenter of poo and water, slips, and starts rolling around and screaming.

To sum it up:

Ben- crying and screaming, covered in poo hand prints and soaking wet

Alex- covered in poo hand prints and laughing

Mommy- wet with poo spray back and laughing/crying

Horrible.

The babies did get to take a bath though!

9 Months!

I'm going to try to do an update, but we'll see how it goes.  My little monsters are due to wake up.  The pictures posted in reverse order, so you'll see them age backwards.  I don't have time to fix it.  This is more of an update post than a fun post, so you can just skim over all the reading if you'd like.

The boys have changed SO much since the last  postings.  They now officially crawl.  Normal, text book crawl.  Well, Alex has a normal text book crawl.  Ben's is still a little special.  He doesn't have great speed regulation and sometimes he pushes off with his foot too hard and flips himself over.  He does crawl faster than Alex.  As long as he doesn't tip over.

They are cruising along furniture.  It is amazing how they can work around things to get where they want to go.

They play together.  They will spot each other from across the room and start laughing.  Then they'll crawl towards each other laughing.  When my parents were here, they crawled to each other so fast and so directly they met in the middle where they bonked heads.  Not fun.  They play keep away.  One will have a toy or something and the other will try to get it. They'll chase each other and grab at it.  So. Much. Fun.

I am not a huge fan of their new mobility.  When they get on the floor, they scatter.  I often find them in different rooms.  They've learned they can go down the hallway.  The hall bath is kind of the new place to hang out.  Alex enjoys flushing the toilet.  Over and Over.  and Over.  and OVER.  Silly baby.

Playing by the bathroom.  Alex close Ben in rear.

Alex playing on the back door glass.

Back door again.  Alex with smooshed face Ben sitting on floor.

Our dog, Shep, is kind of weird.  He has very specific requirements when it comes to where he will eat or drink.  Until now, putting his dishes in the hallway was a nice compromise between what he wants and where I want.  Well, the babies have learned how to get down the hallway.  They LOVE the water dish.  The Shop Vac was already in the hallway when I took this picture because the babies had done the exact same thing the night before.  Needless to say, we're trying to decide where to put his dishes now.  He hasn't been happy with any of the new locations.

Alex heard the commotion and thought he would see what was going on.  Alex left Ben right

He's pretty proud of himself

The boys got a cold.  They did not enjoy it when I propped up one side of their crib mattress.  I tried breaking out the old rock n play.  They are getting so big!

Ben left Alex right.  Ben using Alex to stand.  A brother is not usually a very sturdy object to use for standing support.

Playing together.  Not sure which is which.  I think Ben going to stand and Alex sitting on the floor.

Ben left Alex right

Alex left Ben right.  They were playing peekaboo around the box.  One would peek around to see the other, they would laugh, then he'd sit back behind the box again.  Over and over.

Making the same face

We're working on sippy cups.  They really look like they have it down, but they don't actually drink anything.

What's Alex doing?

Chewing on the knob.

They managed to rip one of those cabinet doors off.  They are strong and work as a team.

Getting hair!  It is really starting to look darker.

Ben

Alex? and Cousin playing together

They both now have 4 teeth.  2 on top and 2 on bottom.  They are starting to get at least 1 more on top.

They are out of their 6 month clothes (finally) and on to 6-9 month and 12 month stuff.  Yay!

They have officially outgrown all of their KSU stuff.  Now they have to cheer on the Wildcats with no purple.  I guess we still have a couple of KSU bibs I can put on them during games.

We've officially had to put things like cabinet locks on the doors and other baby proofing measures.  I've learned that no matter how well I baby proof, they will destroy something if they want something dangerous in their mouth.  Ben pulled off a button from a cushion to chew, then he pulled off the plastic part on the spring to stop a door from slamming open to chew on it.

Mommy breaks are fewer and farther between.  I can't put them on the floor and sit somewhere to get away.  If they want me, they now crawl over to me and climb my leg.

It's been a lot of fun at our house.  This is a good age.
