House Projects, Baby Tuxes, and the Great Outdoors.

It's been a long time since I updated.  Oops.  Life has been busy.  Big changes are coming!  (not pregnant.)

Anyway, here we go!  (I see we were pacifier heavy.  They are pacifier monsters.  I swear they will not still have them when they go to college."

Alex's drawing has changed a lot.  It is no longer crazy and aggressive.  He will sit quietly and shade in specific spots and tell me he is drawing a rocket or a tractor or whatever.  Then he tells me what it is going to do, who is driving it, where it's going, whatever.

Ben still doesn't really care about drawing.  He is better, but he still spends a lot of time stabbing the paper making dots.

Riding their no pedal bikes. Doing better, but they still don't coast.

Alex wearing my tennis shoes and talking to his reflection in the van.

Still talking with the baby in the van

This is a popular way to sleep.  A fitted sheet with the elastic wrapped around the head.  Alex also likes to crawl in to a pillow case and lay in it like a sleeping bag.

They are great swingers now.  They will spend hours swinging.  They even swing on their butts now, not just their tummy.  They get on and off themselves and swing by pushing themselves with their feet.  Sometimes they take turns pushing each other.  That swing set has more than paid for itself in usage.

Our yard had a disgusting number of locusts and locust killer wasps.  Our yard is big enough that they never really bothered us.  The area around the gravel pit was ground zero for locusts.  Here is a locust killer that had paralyzed his wasp and carried it up the tree.  It was fun to watch. Kind of.  I'm alone with 2 2.5 year olds.  Please don't judge my bar for "fun to watch".

We have been wrapping up unfinished projects in our house.  Here is Cody finishing off the inside of the window.  I was outside with the boys and felt I really had to take a picture.

Gathering my tools to paint.

Loading up the van to take to storage.  The boys would climb in the back of the van and run to the front through the boxes.  Then they'd climb out the front and start again.

I was outside for just a minute, and came in to the one and only baby painting disaster.  The boys decided to team up and paint a wall like mommy.  Here is a baby hand print as evidence.

Here is their painting job.  They actually did really, really, really well considering they are 2 and using a full size paint roller. Luckily the damage was minimal and the floor cleans up really easily.

See?  Paint is gone.  There was more paint on them than anything else.

Our fridge.  Filled with beer, peppers, and paint rollers.  (garage fridge not main fridge.  we do have regular food)

This is how they like to eat apples

"Hey, Alex, are you being good?  Are you leaving the tape alone?"

"Yes, mama"

"Are you sure, Alex?"

"Yes, mama"

"Hmm.."

Alex left.  Destroying my tape.

Ben right. Unrolling my tape roll.

Ben putting tape in Alex's hair.

Ben peeling off tape.

It's very hard to paint with toddlers around.

I got rid of my mint for the year.  Here are the roots.  It was a very, very solid chunk of mint.

My sister is getting married in a couple weeks(?!?!?!?!)  Ben LOVED the invitation.  This is him staring at him lovingly.

Then he started kissing it.  Weird.  I did not teach him that.

Here is photographic evidence of why Cody will not share painting tools with me.  I manage to get paint EVERYWHERE.  He would find this and be completely confused about how I managed to get paint all the way to the end of the handle.  I don't have an answer.  I don't know.  The better question is how does he NOT get paint to the handle?

Our neighbor friend is moving.  I've helped watch her girl a couple times so she can get her house ready to sell.  My boys love her.  She likesish them. Here is their family dinner.  Ben closer, Alex farther away

Ben found a toad

Here is a toad jumping action shot.  He followed this toad around for like 15 minutes until the toad got away under the bushes next to the garage.

Ben swaddled like when he was a baby

Their top hats for their tuxes.

Ben left.  Alex right.

The first thing they did was run out to the swing set and swing.  Wearing nothing but a top hat and a smile.

I've been using a GREAT language learning ap to brush up on my spanish.  It is called Duo Lingo.  It has helped a lot, but sometimes the sentences are a little weird.  I thought this one was hilarious.  I now feel very comfortable saying, "I want you, but not a lot."  Gracias, Duo Lingo!
