Doing New Things

They are doing so many new things and understanding so much better than just a couple of weeks ago.  It has been fun to see this burst of new things.

They now love sitting in daddy's recliner.  Eventually, I have to turn it around to face the wall because they get too excited on it and start wrestling.  Not enough room to wrestle little monkeys.

They mastered the stairs and found a new fun hideout in the basement landing area.  They could do stairs before, but they would only do it if they really wanted to go somewhere.  Now they will do it just to hang out in a new spot.  They found this light switch which is perfect baby height at the bottom of the stairs to the basement.  They can spend an eternity taking turns flipping this switch.

Winding down with some tv before bed (we don't use tv to wind down.  They were actually just cuddling with Cody.  Night time routine does not include tv)  They have finally noticed the tv.  They only watch it if there is a kid talking or if there is music.  Alex loves classical music.

This is how I found Ben one morning.  He managed to wrestle his arm out of the neck of his sleeper.  This sleeper is way too small as is, I can't believe he managed to do this without waking us up.

Ben licking Alex's hair.

Alex pushed his truck over to the door knob so he could try to open the lock.  He was not successful.  They can open it if the door is unlocked though.

Ben making a face at Alex.  They sat in that bookshelf and bit each other on the nose over and over.  I don't know why this game was so much fun, but they both did the biting and they both let brother bite their nose.  They thought it was soooo, soooooo funny.  I'm pretty sure this is a small glimpse in to my future life with 2 boys.

They like to look out of windows.  They like it so much that I've made standing boxes for each of them under all of their favorite windows.  Cody was mowing and the boys stood there and watched him for about an hour.  They would wave whenever he drove towards them.

First official baby damage to a wall.  It was not completely their fault.  This happened the first time they found our entry landing.  We had put a closet door down there while we were trying to finish the floor of their closet.  One of them managed to knock the door over.  This was where it hit.  No baby was harmed in this activity.

Alex

Ben with his head stuck in tongs.  They have found the utensil drawer.  Ben always picks the tongs out.  They have started putting everything around their neck like a necklace.  He did that with the tongs.  Unfortunately, he didn't realize he had to push them back and lift them over his head.  He kept pulling on the part in his hands.  That just made the tongs dig in to his neck more.  He was not in pain, but he was definitely frustrated.  I had to rescue him.  He was playing with the tongs again in no time.

They have started saying "uh oh" whenever they drop something or throw something (usually down the stairs).  All day I hear random banging then a pause, then a little "UH uh".  It hurts the self esteem a little when I drop something and then I hear "Uh uh"  Yes baby, mommy is clumsy... I get it.  You don't have to rub it in.  :)

Babies in Car Seats

Here is a video of the boys.  They have started trying to hold hands while in their car seats.  They just laugh and laugh.

Alex is on the left of the video (passenger side) Ben is on the right (driver's side).

I use crackers, milk, and other messy things to keep the babies from melting down in the car, so please excuse the cracker graveyard in between the seats.  It gets pretty crazy back there.

Easter and more

This was the first Easter that the babies were aware of their surroundings.  We were going to go down to visit my family, but a few things happened that made that difficult.  Short story: biggest splinter ever, husband splinter surgery that made it difficult for me to walk, killer allergies + allergy meds.  We did manage to squeeze some fun in to the day.

We had a mini egg hunt.  We did not prepare well, so we only had like 6 plastic eggs.  I supplemented our stash with some mandarin oranges that were getting old.  We, of course, are those people with diapered babies running around outside.  Ben has short hair Alex has long hair.

Alex running away with an egg.  He walked it right to the front door and started pointing at the door.  Little weenie.

Ben got distracted by a loud truck

Alex joining the fun again, carrying around his bucket

Ben stole Alex's bucket and put them together

Alex with an orange

They found an odd love of eating oranges whole.  They mutilated quite a few today.

Ben

An orange after baby gnawed on it.  They eventually chewed off the peel enough to eat the orange.  Much like a monkey does probably.  They had probably 10 servings of fruit today.  My babies will not get scurvy.

After the egg hunt, we let them play with the hose.  Alex walking up the hill.  Ben at the end of the hose

Ben sprayed Alex

They battled

Ben walked away

We did end up taking off their diapers.  Yes, we are those people with naked babies playing with a hose in 76 degree weather.  We did have towels and warm clothes ready for them when they were done.  They did not stay in the water long.

Cody used a tie down to hook their toys together to make a train

They had fun

After dinner, we had Easter cake.  Easter cake has been quite the argument in this house.  They had more fun spreading it out on the table than eating it.  Weirdos.

Here is the and more...

This stuff happened between the last blog post and today.

Ben loving on Alex

If you look closely, you can see the spit smudge on Alex's forehead

The babies enjoy crawling in things.  Here they are in the tv tables.

Babies in a pot..

Alex stuck in a pot.  He was the first one with this idea.

Then Ben crawled in later.  Alex is trying to wrestle him out.

This picture made me laugh more than pretty much any other picture ever.  I have probably 50 pictures of the babies going back and forth in the big pot.  There are pictures taken in the morning, noon, and night in that big pot.

Ben was in the big pot, so this was Alex's response.

No words.

They have started doing something else that I find to be really weird.  If they spill a liquid on the floor, they tend to get on the floor to slurp it up.  This also applies to any puddle they happen upon during their travels.  It is disgusting.  I have to watch them outside because they will go for any liquid that is pooled.  (Note: I don't let them drink floor/ground puddles of any kind.  This was just a surprise.)  Here is Ben getting the spilled milk.
